The Erasmus+ program provides support to organizations active in the youth field so that they can develop; provide non-formal learning opportunities for young people and youth workers; and cooperate, in partnership, with similar organizations in other countries.

Youth learning activities are designed to have a significant positive impact on young people, on the organisations involved, on the communities in which these activities take place, but also on the entire youth field and on the European economic and social sectors in general.

The specific priorities for the youth field aim to:

Promoting active citizenship, a spirit of initiative and entrepreneurship, including social entrepreneurship, among young people

Increasing the quality and recognition of youth work, as well as innovation in this context

Strengthening the professional insertion capacity of young people

Strengthening the links between policy, research and practice

Project types

Two types of projects in the youth field can be funded at national level through Erasmus+: mobility projects and cooperation partnerships. As regards mobility projects, the following types of mobilities/activities are funded: youth exchanges, youth worker mobilities, youth participation activities and DiscoverEU Inclusion projects. As regards cooperation partnerships, the following types of projects are funded: cooperation partnerships and small-scale partnerships.

Eligible organizations:

Public or private organizations, active in the youth field, that offer non-formal learning opportunities to young people. Informal youth groups, represented by one member over 18 years of age of the group, are encouraged to apply for mobility projects - youth participation activities.

Age criteria:

In the context of Erasmus+, young people are considered to be those aged between 13 and 30. In the case of youth workers, the programme does not provide for age limits; to prevent any confusion, please take into account the provisions of the occupational standard "youth worker" (COR code: 341205).
